4 days Fes to Marrakech desert trip itinerary:
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou Cedar forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga desert dunes:
4 days Fes to Marrakech desert trip departure: According to the departure time, we will start our 4 days Fes to Marrakech desert trip by driving to Ifrane ‘The Switzerland of Morocco’. On the way to Azrou forest, there we will meet the monkeys and take a stop for some photos. Afterward, we will continue our journey to Zaida ‘ A village where we will stop for a lunch break at the top of the Anti Atlas mountains. We will then continue our way after lunch to the Sahara desert dunes, passing by Midelt ‘The Apple Capital of Morocco’. We will cross the Anti Atlas before we reach Ziz Palm Grove of Ziz Valley. This valley is known for its thousands of palm and olive trees and also for its Mud building of Berber villages. We will stop at this panoramic park of the valley to take some photos and have a break before continuing our way to the sand dunes of Merzouga. Upon arrival at our hotel, We will be welcomed with a glass of Berber tea before check-in for our rooms. Dinner and night at the hotel.
Day 2: Merzouga desert “Desert excursion”:
According to your choice, We will wake up earlier for a walk to the top of these lowest sand dunes to catch the sunrise view.
Here, we will return for breakfast in our hotel restaurant. After breakfast, We will get ready to explore the desert with our English-speaking driver.
We will start with a visit to the lake of Yasmina. This lake is a miracle for Nomads, where they feed their camels and sheep.
After a few photos at this lake, We will continue our excursion to visit Nomad’s families behind the sand dunes. These Berber families prefer this way of life which makes them travel around with their packages looking for water and grass around the Sahara. We will stop at their tent and have a cup of tea with them before continuing to Miffis mines by crossing the village of Miffiss and Rally Dakar off-road itinerary, There we will visit a Fossil Quarry, Where they pick up these fossils at a workshop in Erfoud. These fossils are known for their amazing table decoration with millions of years of animals inside. Before finishing our day trip around the desert, We will visit this black people village called Khamlia. This village is famous in the desert for its black people who were slaves a long time ago. These people are known as Gnawa with their soul music, There we’ll visit their music house or small music school. We will be welcomed with a cup of tea and take a set to watch these black men dressed in a white Moroccan dress called (Djjelaba). We will then enjoy a short music dance of Gnawa before continuing to a restaurant in the same village for a lunch break. ‘Berber pizza or Couscous on order’. After lunch, We will drive back to the hotel. There we will get ready for our Camel excursion to the top of Sand dunes to catch the sunset. From there, We will then continue with camels to our Berber camp for dinner and overnight under a thousand desert bright stars and a quiet peaceful sky.
Day 3: Sahara desert – Rissani – Erfoud – Todgha Canyons – Dades Canyons:
After breakfast, We will return to our hotel to get ready to start another journey, today is the High Atlas way.
We will start driving via the black desert Hamadas “Black volcanic desert” with black stones and acacia trees. Here, we will get to Rissani an ‘Alaouite city of Sultan Moulay Ali Cherif’. It also was an economic city for Nomad caravans.
After passing this city, We will join Erfoud city which is known as ‘Fossils and Geology capital’. Here we will stop for a visit to a workshop on fossils before continuing our way to Todgha gorges via Jorf and Tinjdad city.
Upon arrival at these Canyons, We will go for a walk in between these gorges with their fresh breeze and waterfalls sounds.
We will then continue to Boumalne Dades crossing its green Fig and olive trees before we reach this natural rock known as “Monkey toes”, because of its natural form. Dinner and overnight in the middle of the Dades Canyon Hotel.
Day 4: Dades Canyons – Rose valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech:
After breakfast, We will cross the valley of the Rose passing the rose capital (Kalaat M’Gouna) on the way to Ouarzazate. ” the Hollywood of Morocco”. 30 Kms after Ouarzazate, We will get to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. This small village of Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO matrimonial historical site that is now a house of many Glaoui family members. We will go on a walking visit to the Kasbah with our English-speaking driver. or our local guide in the area. According to your choice.
We will walk in this large kasbah and admire its Berber building decoration and its old rock stairs. Afterward, We will return to a Moroccan panoramic restaurant facing the Kasbah while taking our lunch break.
After lunch, We will cross the High Atlas mountains on the way to the red city of Marrakech.
